A gloriously simple competition

The Musgrave Duck Race

Hundreds of numbered rubber ducks take to the River Eden — with prizes for the first four across the finish line.

500+ ducks

Pick a duck. Watch the river. Hope for the best.

The Duck Race has become one of Musgrave’s biggest and most distinctive community events and is held in early August.

Supporters “buy” a numbered rubber duck before the race. More than 500 ducks can be released together into the River Eden, each carrying its number downstream — or upstream in 2026! — towards the finish. The first 4 ducks across win their holders a prize.

Dates, duck sales, prize details and practical information can be added here for each year’s event.
